Handmade tables in Welsh wood

Below is an example of a piece of furniture made from the customer's own tree, in this case ash branches that were in danger of toppling.  This wood has some pretty wild grain and is extremely dense.  It was finished using a cabinet scraper.  The durable, yet easily repairable finish is linseed oil and several layers of wiping varnish.  The final coat was 'satinized' with fine wirewool and a little pastewax.
